Key Features
G Lens Series Design
- Advanced Optical Elements: The lens incorporates two Advanced Aspherical (AA) elements, significantly minimizing distortion and spherical aberrations, ensuring sharp and accurate scene representation. Additionally, three extra-low dispersion elements work to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations, enhancing clarity and color fidelity.
- Nano AR Coating: A specialized Nano AR Coating is applied to the lens elements to decrease surface reflections, flare, and ghosting. This results in improved contrast and vibrant color rendering, especially in challenging lighting conditions.
Exceptional Aperture Performance
- Bright f/1.8 Maximum Aperture: The lens features a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture, ideal for low-light environments and contributing to its compact design.
- Pleasant Bokeh: With its rounded nine-blade diaphragm, the lens produces a smooth bokeh effect, making it perfect for selective focus techniques.
Autofocus and Handling
- Advanced Autofocus System: Equipped with a Dual XD Linear Motor system, the lens delivers rapid, quiet, and precise autofocus performance suitable for both photography and video recording.
- User-Friendly Controls: The linear response manual focus control ensures a natural handling experience, while an AF/MF switch on the lens barrel allows for easy toggling between modes. Customizable focus hold buttons provide quick access to selected settings.
- Smooth Aperture Control: The physical aperture ring can be de-clicked, allowing for silent and smooth adjustments, which is particularly beneficial for video work.
- Filter Compatibility: Despite its ultra-wide design, the lens supports front 67mm threaded filters, enabling creative control over your shots.
Compact and Durable Design
- Lightweight Construction: Weighing only 12.3 oz, this lens is perfect for vlogging and casual photography, making it an excellent partner for APS-C-format cameras and compatible with gimbals or accessory grips.
- Weather-Sealed Design: The dust and moisture-resistant build allows for use in adverse conditions, and the rubberized control rings enhance grip and handling, especially in cold weather.
- Easy to Clean: The fluorine-coated front element is designed to repel dust, moisture, and fingerprints, simplifying maintenance.
