Overview of the Sony a7CR Mirrorless Camera
The Sony a7CR boasts an advanced imaging system that features a 61MP Full-Frame Exmor R CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ XR processor. This powerful combination delivers incredible resolution, high clarity, low noise, and an extensive 15-stop dynamic range. The camera supports shooting speeds of up to 8 fps with the mechanical shutter and 7 fps with the electronic shutter, allowing you to capture more than 1,000 JPEG frames in a single burst. Its innovative sensor design enhances image quality, while a copper wiring layer improves data transmission speed for creating high-resolution 14-bit 61MP stills with an ISO range of 100-32000, expandable to ISO 50-102400.
Enhanced Processing Performance
The upgraded BIONZ XR processing engine offers up to 8x the processing performance of previous generations, enabling faster overall performance and superior image quality with a wide range of sensitivities and dynamic ranges. This engine effectively minimizes rolling shutter effects and other motion distortions, ensuring clean images of moving subjects.
Unique Features and Functionality

- AI-Powered Exposure and Color: The camera utilizes AI algorithms like Human Pose Estimation to ensure precise exposure balances, particularly in challenging lighting situations, resulting in about 20% greater reliability for portrait shots.
- Advanced Image Stabilization: With up to seven stops of shake compensation, the 5-axis optical image stabilization system effectively counters various types of camera shake during handheld shooting.
Next-Generation Autofocus
- AI Processing Unit: The a7CR’s autofocus system features advanced subject tracking capabilities and supports real-time recognition for human, animal, and moving subjects, ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
- Fast Hybrid AF: Covering 79% of the full-frame area, the AF system integrates 693 phase-detection points, ensuring quick and precise focusing even in low light conditions down to -4 EV.
Video Recording Capabilities
The camera allows for 4K video recording at up to 60 fps in 10-bit 4:2:2 format, ensuring high-quality output. With support for 16-bit raw output when recording externally, the a7CR provides flexibility for post-production. It also supports high-speed recording at 120 fps for stunning slow-motion footage.
